I did a whole lyrical project on HBFS on how it catches the listener in this sort of delusional state that you miss the changes near the last two minutes of the song. You’re jamming to the electronic beat and you don’t realize the change in verse. In my opinion, the deepest meaning song is Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion and in the end, it’s all about the music. Daft Punk even did the same thing, they opened up and did a huge collaboration for an album, collaborating with I believe 9 artists (Paul Williams, Pharrell Williams, Julian Casablancas, Nile Rogers, Panda Bear, Todd Edwards, Giorgio Moroder, Chilly Gonzales, and DJ Falcon). Also reference the Music Videos and the synthesizer poster in the deluxe box for RAM where their instruments are made out of a transparent material to express the transparency theme of the album. All the songs have a basis of opening a part of yourself like in Touch, “Where do I belong?” And especially the whole songs Within and Beyond. Random Access Memories is about being open with yourself, especially for the ones you love. My favorite hidden meaning far is Emotion and Make Love where it’s just a beat and the words repeated to express blankness and expressionless like a robot. The whole album essentially is just describing society’s flaws, like in the songs Prime Time of your Life, Technologic, Television Rules the Nation, and The Brainwasher. It’s meant to be a striking message with actions and no words. Electroma really just expresses what Daft Punk feels like, how they just want to stand out in a society but still live their lives peacefully but the twist in Electroma is that everyone is Robots and they’re becoming Humans. Human After All is more or less a reliever for Daft Punk and a basis for Alive 2007. Interstella 5555 is like a more intense version of Discovery’s theme but in the end, it’s about the Very Disco music. For Interstella 5555, the connection Thomas and Guy had was that they knew the cons of joining a music label as you basically turn from an improcing musical artist to a song-making label slave, reference to Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger where the lyrics change and Better and Stronger and removed from the verse. Essentially, it’s discovering your true identity and identifying those who are close around you and those who are just using you like in the song, Face to Face. This is purely my view and could be wrong.ĭiscovery is somewhat self explanatory, with the aid of Interstella 5555. Like how Teachers is DJ names and a track just named, “Indo Silver Club”.
